“Obi-Wan Kenobi” Hits Disney+

Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen return to Star Wars for a limited Disney+ series.

The highly anticipated “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is the latest live-action “Star Wars” series to hit Disney+ with Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning to the franchise for the first time since 2005.

The series is set about 10 years after the events of “Revenge of the Sith” and 10 years before the events of “A New Hope”. It is set to follow Obi-Wan Kebobi, a Jedi master in hiding, as he evades pursuit from his former student Darth Vader and his Inquisitors.

Ewan McGregor is set to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi whom he played in the controversial “Star Wars” prequel movies. Also returning is Hayden Christensen, reprising his role as Darth Vader (formerly Anakin Skywalker) from the prequels.

McGregor and Christensen’s characters are set to face one final rematch after their fateful duel on the volcano planet of Mustafar left Darth Vader scarred and needing a cyborg suit to survive. Fans are excited to see them clash one last time before they meet in “A New Hope” and Vader kills Kenobi.

McGregor was liked by fans for his portrayal of the iconic character when the prequels first released and has continued to receive love from fans since despite the relatively negative perception of the film. Christensen was heavily criticized for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker when the prequels first released, but has only recently received massive amounts of fan support, mostly due to fans warming up to the prequels following the recent sequel movie releases.

The two actors have both expressed their excitement to return to the franchise, especially considering that fans have warmed up to the films they starred in. They have both increased their involvement in the fandom in recent years as fans have shown them more love since the prequels first released over 20 years ago.

While the return of McGregor and Christensen has been highly publicized, fans have been speculating if other fan favorites from the prequels could be making surprise appearances. Fans have also been speculating about who will be playing the voice of Darth Vader.

Fans will have to wait until at least May 27 to find out if James Earl Jones will be returning to voice the Sith Lord, or if Christensen or another actor will give the Dark Lord’s voice a try.
