“LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” launched worldwide on all platforms to critical and player praise after years of anticipation.

The sixth “LEGO Star Wars” game made by developer TT Games was announced in 2019 with a release date set for 2020. However, the pandemic made developing the game from home difficult, and it was delayed several times until an April 5, 2022 release date was set.

The game features levels, planets, characters, and vehicles from all nine episodes from the “Star Wars” films. Players have the choice of starting the game at the start of each trilogy (Episodes 1, 4, and 7). In between story levels, players have the ability to explore over 20 planets with any characters and vehicles they unlock from story missions or purchase with LEGO studs, the game’s LEGO-themed currency.

The game boasts over 380 unique characters, many of whom have several different appearances, and more than 100 vehicles to fly and drive. The combat system has been completely overhauled, with each character having a class that determines their abilities and attacks.

The game pays homage to the classic titles while also innovating in terms of gameplay and storytelling. Several actors and actresses from both the mainline movies and spin-off TV shows reprise their roles for the game. The game also has several Easter eggs that reference the older games and popular memes in the “Star Wars” fandom.

With its witty storytelling, impressive graphics, innovative combat, and open worlds, “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” has been met with near-universal praise from both players and critics. The success of the game proves that LEGO-themed games from TT Games can still be successful in the modern industry, and could pave the way for revivals of classic LEGO game franchises like “Batman” or “Indiana Jones”.
